A note on Elisabeth Elliot's writings: Shadow of the Almighty and Through the Gates of Splendor both contain primary sources compiled by Elisabeth Elliot. That includes Jim's journals, writings and memories from friends, and letters between Jim and Elisabeth, among other things. Many of those sources are followed by Elisabeth Elliot's religious interpretation. In order to eliminate bias in our research, we focused primarily on the primary sources, not on Elisabeth Elliot's interpretation.
